Summary:

Cycle 4 : The new professional practices of design: professional communities and methodological tools

Worldover, Web has moved on to the next stage, or what has been popularised as Web 2.0. In India, the Web is catching up. Net usage has grown from 5 million users in 2000 to over 60 million users (exploding by a whopping 1000% and more). Yet, even at this rate of growth Net penetration is merely 5.3% (penetration % population), according to Internet World Stats. Little wonder that there is immense scope and potential for Web in India. But a diverse and multilingual country like ours needs language content that engages the population in a major way. Some steps have been taken in that direction, in public sphere thanks to C-DAC and in private like the launch of Raftaar.com, but a lot more needs to be done and hopefully it will be. The increase in broadband home connectivity and the credit and debit cards usage have further made the India web market a vibrant one.
